Dear David,

I've had a look at your results along with the glucose data from your monitor. The good news is that your standard blood test numbers are not in the diabetic range. What the continuous monitor is showing, though, is that your sugars after meals are going higher than we'd want over time, and your liver blood tests have drifted up slightly. Put together, this puts you in a 'pre-clinical' window — you're not diabetic today, but if nothing changes we'd expect you to be in a few years.

This is very much the point at which we can turn it around. I'd like to book a longer appointment to run through the picture on screen with you and agree a plan. We'll also add two extra blood tests that will sharpen the picture.

Best wishes,
Dr Dolittle
